NEWARK, N.J. -- After a thrilling 6-3 win over the Philadelphia Flyers at MetLife Stadium on Saturday night, the New Jersey Devils were back on the practice ice Monday morning.
On the ice with the squad was 23-year-old left winger Nolan Foote.
Foote hasn't appeared in any games with the Devils this season after suffering an upper-body injury during preseason.
The Denver native was placed on long-term injured reserve and has yet to be activated, but it's a step in the right direction that he was back on the ice with his teammates in a regular practice jersey.
During the team's 55-minute practice, Foote skated with defenseman Nick DeSimone.
"Today, he helped us out playing a little bit of defense, and we will get him back in the flow," head coach Lindy Ruff said. "We don't have a lot of practice days if you look at the schedule for this week. He will practice with us, and we will get him up and running."
Ruff declined to divulge any further information when asked if he could share Foote's injury or if the 23-year-old underwent surgery.
The Devils will travel to Washington, D.C., on Monday afternoon and will face the Washington Capitals on Tuesday.
