The 24-year-old was named captain of Team Elk. Anaheim Ducks defenseman Cam Fowler is serving as one of his assistants.

According to the website, "The Made In Michigan Hockey Major League provides currently active players with the opportunity to spend their offseason practicing with some of the very best players in the area. We've done our best to recreate a real game environment while maintaining safety and ensuring everyone has a good time. Our season totals 12 games + potential playoffs, and each game is refereed by one official."

Cotter has 18 goals and 34 points, making him the league leader of the tournament.

One hundred percent of the proceeds are donated to the Jamie Daniels Foundation. It was established by his parents, Lisa Daniels-Goldman, and Detroit Red Wings Announcer Ken Daniels. The foundation's hope is to save others’ lives by providing education, resources, guidance and support to those struggling with substance use or know someone who is.

As shared on their Instagram page, after Friday's game, all children in attendance can go on the ice and skate with the players, including Cotter.
