New Jersey Devils announced depth defenseman Santeri Hatakka underwent successful shoulder surgery.
NEWARK, N.J. -- Ahead of their home opener, the New Jersey Devils provided the following update on depth defenseman Santeri Hatakka.
"Hatakka recently underwent successful shoulder surgery, performed in Vail, Colorado, by Dr. Peter Millett. Updates on his status will be provided as available."
The 23-year-old was injured on Sept. 24 in the Devils preseason game against the Montreal Canadiens. He played 11:19 and was credited with one giveaway and one takeaway.
When the Devils unveiled their 2024-25 roster, they announced that Hatakka had been placed on injured reserve with an upper-body injury.
In July, the defenseman signed a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000 at the NHL level and $125,000 ($150,000 guaranteed) at the American Hockey League (AHL) level.
The Devils currently have three other defensemen unavailable because of injury: Luke Hughes (off-season shoulder injury), Brett Pesce (recovery from off-season ankle surgery), and Topias Vilen (upper-body injury).
