On Tuesday morning, the New Jersey Devils announced forward Timo Meier will undergo elective shoulder surgery.
The organization released the following statement:
Following the end of the season, Devils forward Timo Meier decided to undergo elective arthroscopic surgery on his shoulder. The procedure will take place today (April 23) and be performed by Devils Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jonathan L. Glashow and Team Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Guillem Gonzalez-Lomas.
Meier is expected to make a full recovery to be available for 2024 New Jersey Devils Training Camp.
During his exit interview, the Swiss power forward revealed he hurt both of his MCLs and an oblique during the season.
When asked if he would participate in The IIHF Men's World Championship, which begins on May 10, the 27-year-old gave a vague response.
"It is kind of all up in the (air). Still waiting on certain things and making sure the body is good enough," Meier said. "I haven't really made a decision on that. We are still waiting on stuff."
Meier played 69 games in 2023-24 and earned 52 points (28 goals, 24 assists). He completed the season with four points in his last three games.
