NEWARK, N.J. -- The New Jersey Devils have re-signed forward Nolan Foote to a one-year, two-way contract worth $825,000 at the NHL level and $150,000 ($200,000 guaranteed) at the American Hockey League (AHL) level. The announcement was made by President/General Manager Tom Fitzgerald.

The Denver, Colorado native was one of five restricted free agents the Devils tenured qualifying offers to in June, along with Adam Beckman, Nico Daws, Santeri Hatakka, and Dawson Mercer.

During his end-of-season media availability, Foote said his goal was to remain with the Devils.

"I definitely want to stick around here and be with this organization."

Foote only appeared in four games last season after making his debut on Apr. 9. The public knew he was injured during the preseason but did not get answers as to what kept the 23-year-old out of the lineup for most of 2023-24.

The winger finally revealed his injury at the conclusion of the season.

"It has kind of been lingering for four years; it happened a while ago. A low back injury disc issue," he said. "It sucks that it has been going on for that long, and I might have it for a long time. It might linger, but I feel good right now, so just continue to maintain that."

Foote shared he would adjust his offseason training, incorporating the rehab he completed in New Jersey through the team's medical staff.

The Devils acquired the 6-foot-3 forward in a trade with the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for winger Blake Coleman in 2020.
