Akira Schmid and Jonas Siegenthaler talk about the team's annual Halloween party.

The New Jersey Devils held their annual Halloween party on Monday night. Many fans look forward to this spooky time of year because the creativity and effort players and spouses put into their costumes are second to none. If you need an example, look no further than Minnesota Wild goaltender Marc-André Fleury and his wife Véronique. As the kids would say, the couple slayed it.

The Devils entered the 2023-24 season as the seventh-youngest team in the league, with an average age of 26.58. With the amount of young players on the roster, one would think that they would have a heavy social media presence, but overall, they are a pretty private group. Because of this, only a few photos were posted from their Halloween get-together.

It left fans scouring Instagram and Twitter, looking to get their Halloween fix.

After the Devils' Nov. 1 practice, I headed into the locker room with a to-do list that included a couple of one-on-ones before the team boarded a plane for Minnesota.

The locker room was not full, but more than a handful of players were sitting at their respective locker stalls, chatting and fielding questions from attending media members.

Once I wrapped up my one-on-ones, I looked around to see which players were still around to get some insight into their festive evening.

In the spirit of transparency, some of your biggest questions are still unknown. I did not get confirmation on Jack or Luke Hughes' costume, nor did I secure a group photo. I may not have all the information, but I wanted to share what I gathered. Just temper your expectations.

Schmid's Switch-Up

In my opinion, Akira Schmid and his girlfriend nailed their Halloween looks. After practice, I learned that this was actually a last-minute costume.

"(Originally it was supposed to be) the Great Gatsby," said Schmid, "but I couldn't find a white suit that actually fit, so we switched it up."

He credited his girlfriend with the concept and shared that she did their makeup in about 10 minutes. That is almost as impressive as Jack Hughes' overtime goal versus the New York Islanders.

Who Had the Best Costume According to Schmid & Siegenthaler?

Some of the costumes that were revealed were Jesper Bratt and his girlfriend Nicole as Ken and Barbie and a group of Spice Girls featuring Tomas Nosek and Vitek Vanecek.

According to Schmid, Tyler Toffoli had the best costume.

"There were a lot of good ones, but I liked Toff's (costume). He was Jon Snow from Games of Thrones."

With Siegenthaler's girlfriend back home in Switzerland right now, the 26-year-old had to fend for himself when it came to his costume and shared that he went as Cobra Kai.

"It was pretty easy, and it suits me," the defenseman said with a smile.

As for his favorite costume of the night, he selected Haula, who was almost unrecognizable in his wig and matching chest hair.

With Halloween and the first month of the season behind them, New Jersey will begin their four-game road trip in Minnesota and look to replicate that road magic they had last season.
