News and notes from the Devils Oct. 23 practice in Newark.

On Oct. 23, the New Jersey Devils held an 11:00 A.M. practice at RWJBarnabas Health Hockey House before departing to Montreal.

Before practice, the organization announced some roster moves, including placing forward Tomas Nosek on injured reserve and recalling defenseman Cal Foote from their American Hockey League affiliate. In three games with the Utica Comets, the blueliner has two points (one goal, one assist).

"We need another body in case somebody gets sick or hurt," Ruff said. "They've got some injuries down there (in Utica), (Foote has) been their best defenseman. We brought him back up."

Foote spoke with Devils reporter Catherine Bogart about how he is approaching his first call-up of the season.

"Have a positive mindset, get in a game, get an opportunity, play my game, and give them no reason to take me out," Foote said. "Get an opportunity. Just take it and try to do my best."
