NEWARK, N.J. -- The New Jersey Devils hit the ice on Sunday afternoon at 12:00 P.M. for a 40-minute practice at RWJBarnabas Health Hockey House.

Newly acquired goaltenders Jake Allen and Kaapo Kahkonen were on the ice early, along with Nico Daws, taking shots from Curtis Lazar and Nick DeSimone before the official start of practice.

"Pretty good pace for practice. It was good to get out there," Kahkonen said. "I haven't been out there for a couple days now. It was good to shake off some rust and be ready to go here."

"I only met the guys right before practice. They all seem great, and I'm looking forward to getting to know them more," Allen said." I haven't skated with a group since Wednesday, I think. For me, it was getting my feet back under me and getting some rhythm. It was good just to get on the ice with the guys."

Per Devils' reporter Sam Kasan, Allen still needs Visa clearance before he can make his Devils' debut. The 33-year-old told the media he is hoping to get into a game this weekend.

"I thought they both looked sharp," Interim head coach Travis Green said of his newly acquired goaltenders. "It's good to have them here. Anytime you trade for a player you want to get them into action, get them into practice. Integrated with the group. It was nice to have them on the ice."

Ahead of practice, the organization announced Nolan Foote was recalled from his conditioning loan.

Foote completed his stint with the Utica Comets of the American Hockey League (AHL) after Saturday night's game. He collected four points (three goals, one assist) over his last two games.

"It was good to see him. He's been out a long time," Green said. "You know, it's been a tough year for him rehabbing and getting back. He played last night. I thought he looked decent today. We'll take it day-to-day with him."

The team additionally announced that forwards Jack Hughes and Timo Meier would not participate in practice as both took maintenance days.

The Devils will not hold a morning skate on Monday. Interim head coach Travis Green will hold a media availability at 4:55 P.M. at Madison Square Garden.
