New Jersey hosted their annual three-on-three tournament in front of a packed crowd on Wednesday evening.

On Wednesday, July 12, hundreds of New Jersey Devils' fans lined up outside RWJBarnabas Health Hockey House in Newark for the annual three-on-three competition. It was the first opportunity for Black and Red season ticket holder members to get a glimpse at the prospects attending development camp.

The players participated in a round-robin-style tournament. The evening began with Team Niedermayer versus Team Daneyko and Team Brodeur versus Team Stevens. The top two squads moved on to play each other in the championship game. Each game was 10 minutes, with the players changing every 30 seconds.

Teams for the Tournament:

TEAM STEVENS: Cole Brady, Lenni Hameenaho, Ondrej Psenicka, Cole Brown, Chase Cheslock, Xavier Parent, Brendan Fitzgerald, Artem Shlaine.

TEAM DANEYKO: Tyler Brennan, Tim Rego, Seamus Casey, Erik Middendorf, Jaromir Pytlik, Santeri Hatakka, Timur Ibragimov.

TEAM NIEDERMAYER: Jakub Malek, Topias Vilen, Petr Hauser, Cam Squires, Luke Rowe, Samu Salminen, Will Dineen, Owen Fowler.

TEAM BRODEUR:

Isaac Poulter, Spencer Cox, Charlie Leddy, Filip Engaras, Cam Recchi, Viktor Hurtig, Josh Filmon, Luke Grainger.

Team Stevens defeated Team Niedermayer in the championship game by a final score of 8-4. Artem Shlaine scored a hat trick for his team, and when he met with the media after the game, he talked about being back at development camp.

"It's nice to be in a competitive environment, especially in the summer. You don't get many of those opportunities," he said. "I'm very grateful for being here and being with this group of guys."

Quick Hits and Observations

  • Lenni Hameenaho stood out as his skating, passing, and shooting abilities were displayed. In the championship game, the 18-year-old tallied two goals and collected another assist.
  • There are plenty of reasons for Devils fans to be excited about defenseman Seamus Casey. Last season at the University of Michigan, he tallied 29 points in 37 games. During the tournament, he showcased both his offensive and defensive abilities and, at times, was the best player on the ice.
  • Chase Stillman and Ethan Edwards did not participate and watched the tournament from the bench. Throughout the three-on-three, they could be seen signing pucks and other memorabilia for young fans.
