    New Jersey Devils forward Dawson Mercer and Nico Daws will represent Canada at the 2024 U.S. Men’s National Team that will compete in the IIHF Men’s World Championship, May 10-26, in Ostrava and Prague, Czechia.

    NEWARK, N.J. -- Hockey Canada made it official. On Friday, it was announced that New Jersey Devils forward Dawson Mercer and goaltender Nico Daws were named to the 2024 Canada Men's National Team, which will compete in the IIHF Men's World Championship, May 10-26, in Ostrava and Prague, Czechia.

    They will be joined by Connor Bedard (Chicago Blackhawks), Michael Bunting (Pittsburgh Penguins), Macklin Celebrini (2024 Draft-Eligible), Dylan Cozens (Buffalo Sabres), Adam Fantilli (Columbus Blue Jackets), Ridly Greig (Ottawa Senators), Dylan Guenther (NHL Utah), Andrew Mangiapane (Calgary Flames), Jack McBain (NHL Utah), Jared McCann (Seattle Kraken), Brandon Tanev (Seattle Kraken), Bowen Byram (Buffalo Sabres), Kaiden Guhle (Montreal Canadiens), Jamie Oleksiak (Seattle Kraken), Colton Parayko (St. Louis Blues), Owen Power (Buffalo Sabres), Olen Zellweger (Anaheim Ducks), Jordan Binnington (St. Louis Blues), and Joel Hofer (St. Louis Blues).

    The two Devils will also reunite with former teammate Damon Severson.

    During his exit interview, Mercer was asked about the tournament. At the time, he said, "We will see what comes of it later on. I am not really sure."

    Other Devils players participating in the tournament are Nico Hischier (Switzerland), Jonas Siegenthaler (Switzerland), Akira Schmid (Switzerland), Ondrej Palat (Czechia), Tomas Nosek (Czechia), Simon Nemec (Slovakia), and Luke Hughes (U.S.A).

    Hischier and Palat will captain their respective teams, while former Devil Tomas Tatar will wear the "C" for Slovakia.
