NEWARK, N.J. -- New Jersey Devils captain Nico Hischier is back. Hours before puck drop, Hischier was removed from injured reserve on the NHL's media site.

Hischier joined his team for warmups and took line rushes alongside Ondrej Palat and Jesper Bratt. During the pregame show, MSG Networks host Erika Wachter officially announced Hischier's return to the lineup.

The 24-year-old captain has been out of the lineup since Oct. 27, when he took a hit from Buffalo Sabres' defenseman Connor Clifton. NHL Player Safety handed Clifton a two-game suspension for an illegal check to the head.

Hischier returned to practice on Nov. 20 and has most recently worked on the team's fourth line alongside Max Willman and Nathan Bastian.

In seven games this season, Hischier has two goals, one blocked shot, five hits, and a faceoff win percentage of 55.2.
