Clarke has 21 points (11 goals, 10 assists) in 27 games for the Utica Comets.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The New Jersey Devils announced a roster move ahead of their Wednesday night game versus the Washington Capitals.

Forward Graeme Clarke was recalled from the Utica Comets (American Hockey League) and joined the team for their optional morning skate at Capital One Arena.

"I was in Utica last night and then got a call, and I'm in Washington the next day," Clarke said. "(It) happens really fast, and obviously, I'm really excited to be here and wouldn't want it any other way."

Clarke is the Comets' leading goal scorer this season. Through 27 games, he has 21 points (11 goals, 10 assists). He has had three multi-point games this season.

The Devils will be without power forward Timo Meier, who is being evaluated for a "mid-body" injury suffered on Dec. 30. Before departing for Washington, D.C., on Tuesday afternoon, the team used the following forward lines at practice:

Tyler Toffoli - Jack Hughes - Jesper Bratt

Ondrej Palat - Nico Hischier - Erik Haula

Curtis Lazar - Michael McLeod - Dawson Mercer

Alexander Holtz - Chris Tierney - Nathan Bastian

Ruff did not confirm if Clarke would be in the lineup tonight. During his media availability, he said the team has some forwards dealing with issues and needed Clarke in case they were down a player. He also stated there is a chance the team could go with 11 forwards and seven defensemen.

If in the lineup, it will be the 22-year-old's NHL debut.

Fans will need to wait until warmups, around 7:00 P.M., to see what lines will be utilized versus the Capitals. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 P.M.
