It's been reported that the New Jersey Devils have signed NCAA free agent Dylan Wendt to an entry-level contract.

Wendt played three years at Western Michigan and this season he scored 23 goals and 44 points in 38 games. He was second on his team in both goals and points.

The 23-year-old is listed at 6'1 and 185 lbs, shoots right and plays centre. He possesses quite a few traits that the Devils currently lack. Wendt was nominated for the Hobey Baker Award this season which goes out to the best player in College hockey.

Wendt's game is based on his competitiveness and scoring ability. He gets himself into the dirty areas of the ice to score but also has a shot capable of beating goaltenders. This goal against Denver is a great example of his game.

He gives the Denver defensemen no space and forces a turnover at the blue line. Once he steals the puck he goes down on a 2-on-1 and rips a shot past the goaltender.

Eliteprospects had him ranked as the seventh best NCAA free agent. His well-rounded game makes him a possible option to play in the Devils' bottom six at some point in the future.
