According to David Pagnotta and Darren Dreger, multiple teams are interested in New Jersey Devils' forward Tyler Toffoli.
Despite GM Tom Fitzgerald saying they have no plans of trading Toffoli, the veteran forward has been linked to several playoff teams.
One of the teams interested in acquiring Toffoli is the Los Angeles Kings, the team where he began his career and won a Stanley Cup with.
It is reported that the Kings are in a tough cap situation but with the moves the Vancouver Canucks, Edmonton Oilers and the Vegas Golden Knights; who are also interested in Toffoli, have made, the Kings almost have to find a way to make a deal to compete with the teams inside their division.
The Golden Knights have made moves to acquire Anthony Mantha and Noah Hanifin and with Mark Stone on the LTIR, the Golden Knights still have cap space remaining and are interested in acquiring another winger. The Golden Knights had 50% of Mantha's salary retained and had 75% of Noah Hanifin's salary retained so they could have space to add another player. The Golden Knights also stipulated that the 2025 first-round pick could slide to 2026 if they chose to make another trade before the deadline.
With each passing game, the Devils find their path to the playoffs more and more difficult and could benefit by getting assets for a player who is at risk of walking away for nothing during free agency. It's hard to not be committed to being all-in when you have players like Jack Hughes, Nico Hischier and Jesper Bratt on your roster but the Devils can afford to play the long game with these players and regroup for next year.
