Bobrovsky is the first goaltender to win a game in the Final at age 35 or older since Martin Brodeur of the New Jersey Devils in 2012.

SUNRISE, F.L. -- On Saturday night, Florida Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky took center stage, backstopping his team to a Game 1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers.

"(Bobrovsky) was incredible tonight," said Evan Rodrigues. "He did everything for us."

The veteran netminder made 32 saves, earning a shutout. Per NHL PR, "It was the 16th-ever shutout in Game 1 of the Final and first since 2011 when Roberto Luongo was perfect for the Vancouver Canucks."

At 35 years, 262 days, Bobrovsky is the first goaltender to win a game in the Final at age 35 or older since Martin Brodeur of the New Jersey Devils in 2012.

Brodeur's last win in the Stanley Cup Final occurred exactly 12 years ago, on June 9 at Prudential Center in Newark, in Game 5 of the Final.

Brodeur made 25 saves on 26 shots, securing his team's victory and forcing a Game 6.

The Devils' icon continued to play until the 2014-15 campaign but never returned to the postseason.

After his impressive performance on Saturday, Bobrovsky will look ahead to Game 2, which will be played on Monday, June 10 at 8:00 P.M.
