The Hockey News believes that Jack Hughes is going to break the record for the most points in a single New Jersey Devils season.
The New Jersey Devils have never had a single player reach the 100-point mark in a single season. Many have come close, but reaching the century mark has eluded every player in franchise history.
That includes Jack Hughes, who topped out at 99 during the 2022-23 season. He was one point away from becoming the first, but he still has a chance to be the first Devil to reach that milestone.
In the 2026 edition of The Hockey News Yearbook, which you can get here, Hughes is predicted to do just that. He is projected to play in 75 games with 35 goals and 65 assists for 100 points exactly. Missing 9 games would not be ideal, and the total could be even higher if he played closer to 84 games, but those totals would be more than acceptable.
They have Jack Hughes leading the team in scoring by 17 points, as Jesper Bratt comes in with an 83-point prediction. Nico Hischier is third with 68. Hischier would probably like to have a little bit more offensive success with his incredible two-way play, but these are more or less great expectations for New Jersey's top three forwards.
If they all found ways to exceed these numbers, New Jersey would likely beat out their prediction of coming in 4th place in the Metropolitan Division.
