Two New Jersey Devils players joined the lineup Sunday afternoon, signaling a shift for the team.
Both Johnathan Kovacevic and Evgenii Dadonov returned to the lineup, with Kovacevic skating for the Devils for the first time this season after offseason knee surgery.
Dadonov had played five games this season but had dealt with several injuries, sidelining him for the majority of the season.
In their returns, Kovacevic played 18:14, recording one assist, while Dadonov played 10:00.
Kovacevic discussed his return with NJD.tv.
“It’s obviously so great,” Kovacevic said. “To finish the game, be healthy and be in one piece. Just on a personal note, that was amazing to feel that feeling of playing again.”
Kovacevic's assist contributed to Cody Glass's third-period goal. However, the team was unable to pull off the win.
The Devils lost 4-3 to the Winnipeg Jets, marking their fourth-straight loss.
They now aim to break their losing streak on Monday against the Minnesota Wild.
The puck will drop at 8 PM.
