New Jersey Devils forward Dawson Mercer and Team Canada held a 6-1 lead heading into the third period and gave up five unanswered goals before winning in overtime.
Mercer was the only Devils player in action today at the 2024 IIHF Men's World Championship and played in one of the more eventful games of the tournament.
A game that everyone thought Canada would breeze by ended up becoming their biggest scare.
Despite scoring seven goals, Mercer was unable to register a point. Connor Bedard scored his fifth goal of the tournament and John Tavares scored the overtime winner.
Mercer has registered just one goal, which was an empty net goal, in three games thus far. He's played in the bottom six for Canada so his ice time and offensive opportunities aren't what he's accustomed to with the Devils.
Ondrej Palat, Simon Nemec, Nico Hischier and Jonas Siegenthaler will be back in action tomorrow.
