The New Jersey Devils have recalled goaltender Isaac Poulter from the AHL and have assigned defenseman Tyler Wotherspoon to the Utica Comets.
Wotherspoon was recalled to the Devils on Mar. 19 but didn't see any game time. He'll return to the AHL where he's played 54 games.
Poulter is a 22-year-old Canadian goaltender. Last season he split time between the Comets and Adirondack Thunder of the ECHL. This season he's played exclusively in the AHL and has put up very good results.
In 28 games he's posting a .911SV% and a 2.50GAA with four shutouts. His record this season for the Comets is 17-8-1.
The Devils lost to the Ottawa Senators last night with Jake Allen in net. They play the New York Islanders today with Kaapo Kahkonen as the projected starter. Poulter could be the backup goaltender today to allow Allen to rest and avoid getting dressed in his full equipment.
Poulter has made one start for the Thunder in the ECHL this season which came recently on Mar. 22 in a 5-4 win.
The Comets are in action today as they take on the Rochester Americans at 3:05 P.M. EST. The Devils play on the road against the Islanders at 5:00 P.M. EST.
