According to NHL insider Pierre LeBrun, the Devils are one of the teams having trade talks with the Canucks.
On the latest episode of TSN Insider Trading, NHL insider Pierre LeBrun reported that the New Jersey Devils are one of the teams having trade discussions with the Vancouver Canucks about star forward J.T. Miller.
"There are other teams other than the Rangers that have been in talks with the Vancouver Canucks," LeBrun said. "The New Jersey Devils, the Rangers rivals. They also have been a late entrance in this. They've held talks with the Canucks on J.T. Miller. I also think that internally, the Devils are trying to sus out if it makes sense to go all in on this or not."
Hearing that the Devils have their eye on Miller is understandable. They could use another star in their top six and power play, and Miller would give them just that. In addition, he can play both down the middle and on the wing, so he could fit virtually anywhere in their lineup.
Miller, 31, would be far more than a rental if the Devils acquired him. The veteran forward is signed until the completion of the 2029-30 season and has an $8 million cap hit. He also has a full no-movement clause, so he would need to approve a move to New Jersey or any other club.
Miller has appeared in 35 games this season with the Canucks, where he has eight goals and 31 points. This is after he set career highs with 37 goals and 103 points last season.
