Besides having the potential to give the Devils more depth production, Evans also provides value because of his strong defensive play. With this, if acquired, he would be a clear option for New Jersey's penalty kill. Evans has an affordable $1.7 million cap hit until the end of the season. With the Habs struggling, it is quite possible he could be made available later this campaign. If he is, the Devils would be wise to make a push for him.
