Bastian wasted no time skating over to defend his teammate and occasional linemate. "Growing up, I was never a fighter," Bastian told The Hockey News last season. "You know, still, I am not really a fighter, but that being said, I am willing to stick up for my teammates." Bastian received the following penalties: instigator (two minutes), fighting (five minutes), and a 10-minute misconduct. He never returned in the second period.
