EAST MEADOW, NY -- The New York Islanders were without defenseman Scott Mayfield for Tuesday's 1-0 win over the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old defenseman, who inked a seven-year extension this summer, took a Rasmus Dahlin slapshot off the left ankle Saturday night in the Islanders 3-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres.

Per head coach Lane Lambert on Thursday afternoon, Mayfield hadn't skated since the injury and was considered day-to-day for the time being.

Ahead of Friday's morning skate, Mayfield took the ice and worked with skills coach Troy Stevens. He stayed on the ice for morning skate but will not play Friday night.

The Islanders will decide after the game whether Mayfield will make the trip to Buffalo, who the Islanders play Saturday night.
