The New York Islanders have yet to ink their 2020 fourth-round pick Alex Jefferies to his entry-level contract, but it's coming soon.

Jefferies has already joined the organization, signing an Amateur Tryout with the Bridgeport Islanders, the club's AHL affiliate, after Jefferies and Merrimack College lost to Northeastern in the first round of the Hockey East tournament.

The 22-year-old forward entered Monday's game against the Utica Comets with an assist in four games, earning the helper in his first professional game:

After forward Brian Pinho stepped up at the Comets' blue line to keep the puck in the zone, Carson Twarynski found Jefferies, who sniped goaltender Akira Schmid:

The Islanders need to see some of their forward prospects develop, and Jefferies is one of those players who has the potential to change the narrative surrounding the Islanders' prospect pool.

There's more to come from the young forward, who the Islanders have until Aug. 15 to sign to his ELC before losing his rights.
