It's been over two months since the New York Islanders signed Anthony Duclair. The team announced the newcomer's number on his birthday.
Ahead of the start of training camp next month, Anthony Duclair’s number with the New York Islanders has been revealed.
The forward will wear number 11, per a post by the team’s account on X:
On July 1, Duclair signed a four-year deal with the Islanders worth $3.5 million annually after splitting time with the San Jose Sharks and Tampa Bay Lightning last season.
Between his time with them and the Florida Panthers, he consistently wore jersey number 10, but a change was deemed necessary, as Simon Holmstrom currently holds it.
Over his 10-year career, Duclair has also worn numbers 63 and 91, but the former was his rookie number, and the latter is retired for Butch Goring.
As a result, his new number will be one spot north of his most recent digit.
He will be the first Islander to wear 11 since Zach Parise spent two seasons with the team. Other names to wear it include Tanner Fritz, Shane Prince, Lubomir Visnovsky, and Darius Kasparaitis.
