The New York Islanders have interviewed Marc Bergevin and Mathieu Darche twice for their open general manager position, confirmed by The Hockey News.

Frank Seravalli was first to report Bergevin getting a second interview.

It seems like it's coming down to the wire between these two candidates.

Bergevin, last serving as a special advisor to former Los Angeles Kings general manager Rob Blake, spent the better part of eight seasons as the Montreal Canadiens general manager (2012-2022).

Darche has served as the Tampa Bay Lightning's Director of Hockey Operations since 2019 and added assistant GM to his resume in 2022-23.

This remains a fluid situaiton.
