Bo Horvat hits two milestones in the first period against the Flyers.
ELMONT, NY -- New York Islanders forward Bo Horvat has had a fantastic first season on Long Island.
Entering Monday's game against the Philadelphia Flyers, the first-year Islander had 29 goals with 34 assists in 72 games, one shy of 30 for the season and also one point shy of 500 for his career.
After Matt Martin scored to tie the game at 1-1, Horvat scored 18 seconds later to give the Islanders a 2-1 lead in a monumental game against a team they were chasing.
Starting the game as the right winger on a line with Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Anders Lee, Roy had him with his dynamic duo Mathew Barzal, and the two connected at 12:21 of the first:
With that dagger, Horvat reached the 30-goal plateau for the first time as a member of the team:
Horvat joined the Islanders in a blockbuster trade from the Vancouver Canucks in Jan. 2023 and was extended for eight years shortly thereafter. Horvat enjoyed a career year last season, potting a career-high 38 red lights last season. However, his production lagged after the deal, in large part due to his new wingman, Mathew Barzal, going down with a regular-season-ending injury.
However, with Barzal healthy, Horvat has played up to his new contract.
The center has 30 goals and 34 assists on the season.
