Professional hockey returns to Ontario as the Islanders' new affiliate reveals the bold threads they'll sport at T.D. Coliseum for their highly anticipated October home opener.

On Tuesday, the Hamilton Hammers released photos of what their inaugural jersey will look like when they take the ice this fall as the New York Islanders' newest AHL affiliate:

After rumors swirled dating back to last summer, the Islanders announced on March 19 that they would be relocating their AHL affiliate from Bridgeport, where it had been for the past 25 years, to Hamilton, Ontario.

On May 21, a press conference was held at the new state-of-the-art T.D. Coliseum, where the newest Hamilton team announced they would be called the "Hamilton Hammers" and showcased their logo.

Their home opener will take place on Friday, Oct. 9.
