Ilya Sorokin earned his second shutout of the season on Thursday night.
New York Islanders goaltender Ilya Sorokin stopped all 30 shots that came his way in their 4-0 shutout victory against the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday night.
With the clean sheet, the 29-year-old recorded his 20th career shutout in his 222nd NHL game, making him the second-fastest goaltender to reach that mark.
Only current New York Rangers backup goaltender Jonathan Quick accomplished that feat quicker, doing so in 212 games as a member of the Los Angeles Kings.
Per MSG statistician Eric Hornick: "Since he debuted in January 2021, only Connor Hellebuyck (22) has more shutouts – and he has started 50 more games."
Sorokin is now 13-13-4, with a 2.83 GAA and a .902 SV% with two shutouts on the season.
However, over his last four games (2-2-0), Sorokin owns a 2.00 GAA with a .930 SV%.
