Islanders' Mathew Barzal Fined For Slashing Blue Jackets' Mason Marchment cover image

Barzal avoids a suspension.

New York Islanders forward Mathew Barzal has been fined $5,000 by the Department of Player Safety for slashing Columbus Blue Jackets forward Mason Marchment at the 1:37 mark of the second period:

Barzal has never been suspended but has received fines on three separate occasions. The fact that he was given the boot so early in the second likely played a part.

Barzal and the Islanders battle the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday night at 8:30 PM ET.
