New York Islanders prospect and Oshawa Generals forward Calum Ritchie received impressive recognition in the annual Ontario Hockey League coaches poll.

The 20-year-old was voted first in two categories among Eastern Conference players: Best Stickhandler and Best Playmaker.

He beat out top 2025 NHL Draft prospects Jake O’Brien and Porter Martone in both categories, as well as Jacob Battaglia in stickhandling.

Ritchie was acquired from the Colorado Avalanche in the Brock Nelson blockbuster at the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline, finishing his OHL season with 95 points (24 goals, 71 assists) in 68 regular-season and playoff games.

His Generals fell in five games to fellow Islanders prospect Jesse Nurmi’s London Knights in the OHL championship.

Earlier in the year, Ritchie appeared in seven NHL games to start the season with the Avalanche and served as an alternate captain for Team Canada at the 2025 World Junior Championship.

Ritchie is expected to contend for an NHL roster spot ahead of the 2025-26 season.
