Matthew Schaefer Hits Two More Milestones In Sunday's Loss

The New York Islanders saw their five-game point streak snapped at the hands of the Dallas Stars in a tough 6-3 defeat.

In the defeat, Matthew Schaefer scored his second goal of the season, and the 25th of his career.

With that goal, he officially moved ahead of Boston Bruins legend Bobby Orr for 2nd place among teenage defensemen. Schaefer also moved into 7th place on the teenage defenseman point list, where he needs 64 points to break Phil Housley’s teenage record.

It continues to be normalized how good Schaefer is. There's every chance Schaefer breaks Housley's point record for a teenage defenseman.

That wasn't the only milestone for Schaefer, though. With his 25th goal as a teenager, he passed Tim Connolly and John Tavares for third place on the Islanders' teenager goal list.

He is still chasing Bryan Trottier (32 goals) and Pat LaFontaine (26 goals) in Islanders' history.

That would be just another notch on the belt for Schaefer at this point.

The kid is simply incredible.
