EAST MEADOW, NY -- Maxim Shabanov is taking part in New York Islanders rookie camp.

After playing professionally in the KHL since 2021, the 24-year-old elected to sign with the Islanders this summer, a one-year entry-level deal worth $975,000. 

It's not a shock or a concern that he's taking part in rookie camp, as we saw Maxim Tsyplakov, who was two years older, skate last season with the youngsters after coming over from the KHL.
