EAST MEADOW, NY -- The New York Islanders may have had an off day on Tuesday after their Game Two loss, but a few former Islanders were in action.
Anthony Beauvillier and the Nashville Predators were looking to tie their series at 1-1 against the Vancouver Canucks, while Zach Parise and the Colorado Avalanche tried to do the same against the Winnipeg Jets.
After being denied by the pad of Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko in Game One off a strong one-time feed, Beauvillier found the back of the net in Game Two, giving Nashville a 1-0 lead at 1:14 of the first period:
That was Beauvillier's first playoff goal since his overtime tally to force a Game Seven against the Tampa Bay Lightning on June 23, which sent Nassau Coliseum into an absolute frenzy.
Parise, who joined the Avalanche in the second half of the season -- with the Islanders anything but a sure playoff team at that point -- gave the Avalanche a 3-2 lead at 17:20 of the second period:
After not scoring last year in the playoffs for the Islanders, this goal was his first postseason tally since May 28, 2021, while he was a member of the Minnesota Wild, scoring against the Vegas Golden Knights.
