The New York Islanders may have one of the best play-by-play broadcasters in the NHL and all of the sports with MSG Network's Brendan Burke. But when he hasn't been able to call Islanders games, the great Alan Fuehring, who calls the Bridgeport Islanders, has done an exceptional job in his place.
The New York Islanders may have one of the best play-by-play broadcasters in the NHL and all of the sports with MSG Network's Brendan Burke.
His exponential rise to fame has provided him with opportunities to call national games, working with NBC Sports before joining TNT, and he's still on calls in these Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Due to that role, Burke has had to miss some Islanders games this season, and MSG has recalled the very talented Alan Fuehring up from Bridgeport of the American Hockey League to fill in.

Fuehring, who was hired by Bridgeport to be their play-by-play broadcaster in 2016, has been exceptional in Burke's spot, having a great rapport with Butch Goring as well as Shannon Hogan and the rest of the crew.
On Monday, Fuehring thanked the Islanders faithful for their support this season, sharing his favorite calls while in the MSG booth:
As of now, we don't know what the future holds for Burke, whose contract with MSG Networks concluded following the 2023-24 season.
While his contract with MSG and with Bridgeport isn't public knowledge, the hope is that Alan Fuehring can land an NHL gig somewhere, whether it's with the Islanders if Burke leaves or somewhere else.
For those that do not know, most, if not all, broadcasters at the AHL level wear many hats.
Not only is Fuehring working hard to memorize lineups, name pronunciations, and stats, but he is also head of public relations, which brings about so much more than just player interviews, so stick taps to him for doing it all.
Fuehring is an exceptionally hard worker who always seems ready to go. He brings passion to his calls that you can feel through the television.
The Islanders faithful have been lucky to have tremendous broadcasting talent throughout the organization, a one-two punch, if you will.
We shall see what the future holds for Fuehring, who should be proud of his Islanders calls this season, filling a big seat.
