Alex Jefferies had a strong AHL debut while Ruslan Iskhakov continues to give goaltenders nightmares.
On Friday night, New York Islanders prospect Alex Jefferies played in his first-ever professional game when the Bridgeport Islanders battled the Utica Comets.
The 22-year-old inked an Amateur Tryout with Bridgeport on Maarch 20 and is expected to sign his entry-level contract soon. He skated alongside Karson Kuhlman and William Dufour:
Not only did Bridgeport get the win, 2-1 in a shootout, but Jefferies tallied his first professional point, earning the secondary assist on Julien Gauthier’s power-play goal at 14:25 of the second to tie the game at 1-1:

Then it was up to goalie Jakub Skarek to make one more save for the win, which he did in Thomas Greiss fashion:
With the Islanders slumping, could we see Iskhakov get called up before the end of the season?
Is it possible that Jefferies could join the Islanders for a practice if he signs his ELC before season’s end?
The Bridgeport Islanders got a win so now it’s the Islanders' turn, as they host the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday at 1 PM.
