    Let's dive into the numbers.

Over the last week, the New York Islanders made some roster moves.

Thanks to the great work of CapFriendly, let's dive in.

Last Sunday, ahead of the All-Star festivities, the Islanders sent down forward Kyle MacLean, to allow him to play for Bridgeport while the NHL was on pause.

This opened up a roster spot, clearing $800,000 of the books.

On Friday, the Islanders elected to waive forward Julien Gauthier, and after he passed through unclaimed on Saturday, creating a roster spot and clearing $787,500 off the books, the Islanders made a few more moves.

Later on Saturday, forward Simon Holmstrom, who, like MacLean, was waiver exempt, was "sent to Bridgeport" to clear an additional $863,333 off the books.

Then forward Casey Cizikas and defenseman Robert Bortuzzo, two players who were on injured reserve with lower-body injuries, were transferred to long-term injured reserve, clearing an additional $3.45 million off the books.

That allowed the Islanders to activate defenseman Ryan Pulock off LTIR, given his $6.15 million cap hit, leaving the club with $3.15 million in available space.

Then, after activating Pulock, the Islanders recalled Holmstrom and MacLean, leaving them with $1.4 million in cap space and a maxed-out roster with all 23 spots filled.

If the Islanders wanted to activate Cizikas out of LTIR, they would need to clear an additional $1.01 million in cap space.

On top of sending MacLean and his $800,00 down when Cizikas is ready, the Islanders would need to make one more final move to clear the remaining $200,000.

Defenseman Mike Reilly, who was a healthy scratch going into the break, carries a cap hit of $1 million. Defenseman Sebastian Aho carries a cap hit of $825,000.

This doesn't take into consideration that Adam Pelech, who is day-to-day with an upper-body injury, could be moved to LTIR, clearing an additional $5.75 million if the organization believes he will be out long-term.
