Sheldon Keefe was not a happy camper regarding Kyle MacLean's goal.

Islanders Beat Leafs

New York Islanders forward Kyle MacLean scored a beauty of a goal for his first in the NHL when he deked Toronto Maple Leafs netminder Ilya Samsonov out of his skates early in the second period on the breakaway Monday night.

A nifty goal for MacLean and New York, but a goal that was unacceptable for the Maple Leafs.

In the dying seconds of a power play, Toronto's second power-play unit failed to pay attention to the clock.

Postgame, Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe was asked about the mistake, with the blame certainly falling on the shoulders of right defenseman Timothy Liljegren.

"This is the National Hockey League," Keefe said. "That's Peewee stuff. You play on the power play in the National Hockey League, they should not get behind you getting out of the penalty box."

The Leafs ultimately were able to get that goal back, but Pierre Engvall ruined that for the Scotiabank crowd, scoring with 2:02 to play in the third in his return, with New York holding on for the 3-2 lead.
