When the New York Islanders and Carolina Hurricanes go to war on Friday night, you can listen to the usual MSG Networks crew of play-by-play broadcaster Brendan Burke alongside color-analyst and four-time Stanley Cup champion Butch Goring, with Shannon Hogan and former Islander Thomas Hickey doing the pregame, the postgame and intermission reports.
However, if you are not watching the game locally and are relying on the national broadcasts, TNT has a strong crew calling Saturday's game.
On the mic is the legendary John Forslund, one of the best broadcasters in the sport, with Burke not far behind.
Joining him as an analyst is Darren Peng, who, at five feet five inches, was and is the second shortest goaltender to play in the NHL. He played three seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks from 1987 to 1990.
If you are an Islander fan, you are familiar with the other analyst, Jennifer Botterill.
Known for her stellar play in Canada's Women's Hockey League and internationally for Team Canada, where she won gold five times, she joined the MSG crew from 2018 to 2020 before COVID-19 disrupted that.
Botterill and A.J. Mlezcko, who now is an ESPN analyst, used to break down film like no other duo, given their pasts as elite hockey players.
