Cory Schneider is headed back to Bridgeport, where he spent a few years, to sign autographs and meet New York Islanders fans.
The Bridgeport Islanders are hosting their New York Islanders Night on Saturday against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, and a former member of the organization will join the festivities.
Cory Schneider, a member of the Islanders’ organization for three seasons, will meet fans and sign autographs.
Schneider, who announced his retirement in September, appeared in 65 games with Bridgeport and one with the big club, earning a victory against his former team, the New Jersey Devils. Across 410 NHL games, he went 171-159-58 with a 2.43 GAA and .918 SV%.
Today, he makes spot appearances on Islanders’ broadcasts on MSG Networks and NHL Network.
The night also continues the growth of Bridgeport’s connection to the Islanders. In addition to changing their team name to “Islanders” from “Sound Tigers” in 2021, Total Mortgage Arena hosted NHL preseason games prior to UBS Arena’s opening.
At the time, Bridgeport general manager Chris Lamoriello said, “Having the Islanders name associated with Bridgeport creates a stronger tie between the NHL team and the top development team” and Saturday’s festivities will be another step towards that.
Bridgeport will further celebrate the evening by giving out Islanders’ duffle bags while supplies last. Tickets for Saturday’s game are available at Bridgeportislanders.com.
