Jesse Nurmi is heating up at the World Junior Summer Showcase, while Cole Eiserman rifled home his first goal.
On Wednesday, New York Islanders prospects went up against each other yet again at the 2024 World Junior Summer Showcase when Team USA battled Finland.
Prospect Jesse Nurmi (2023, Rd 4), playing on Finland's second line, continued to excel.
A standout in his second game, earning a goal and an assist, Nurmi put together a three-point night in Game 3, with two assists before icing the game with an empty-net dagger to secure Finland's 5-3 win.
The 19-year-old forward was taken in the CHL's import draft by the London Knights and will play there this season after signing a contract.
On Team USA's side, Cole Eiserman (2024, No. 20) got the opportunity to play on the top line, skating on the left of Hauppauge native James Hagens, who is expected to go first overall at the 2025 NHL Draft.
Despite being held to no points through his first two games, Eiserman lit the lamp in Game 3.
With USA down 2-1, Hagens forced a turnover before teeing one up for Eiserman to tie the game at 2-2.
Unfortunately, there is no video replay of the tally. But with the help of Jason Bartow, who was at the game, here's what happened.
After Hagens stole the puck, he quickly hit Eiserman across the slot, where the Massachusetts native was positioned below the right dot for the one-time finish.
"He smoked it home" were the words of the great Bartow.

Prospect Zach Schulz (2023, Rd. 6) served as USA's seventh defenseman.
Nurmi and Finland will be back in action on Friday at 1 PM ET against Canada before Eiserman and the USA face Sweden at 4 PM ET.
