Whether you are a New York Giants or New York Jets fan, the start of the 2024-25 NFL season could not have been worse.
The Giants, at 1 PM on Sunday, got killed by former Jets quarterback Sam Darnold, falling 28-6.
They looked like an unprepared team, something that Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell pointed out to his team postgame in the locker room.
And then you have the Jets.
After tearing his Achilles on Week's 1's Monday Night Football last season, Aaron Rodgers' return under Jets' center was not enough to overcome a pitiful defensive display.
San Fransisco 49ers tallied 32 points -- they scored on eight straight offensive drives before taking a knee at the end -- while the Jets scored 19.
Both teams enter Week 2 with a lot to clean up, while their fans are left in agony until kickoff comes around again.
The Giants kick off this Sunday at 1 PM against the 0-1-0 Washington Commanders, while the Jets play the 0-1-0 Tennessee Titans.
But football fans.
It will be okay.
Because hockey is right around the corner.
While the New York Islanders content team traveled with Bo Horvat for the NHL media tour, his teammates were at the Matt Martin Foundation Poker event.
Newcomers Anthony Duclair and Maxim Tsyplakov, along with most of the team, were in the building at Opus Steakhouse.
A few days from now, Saturday, Anders Lee hosts his annual Jam Kancer Event, which is followed by the Islanders Golf Outing on Monday -- the event that rings in the new season.
Then, a few days later, the NHLers will join the prospects on the ice for the start of training camp.
We are 12 days away from the Islanders' first preseason game, which comes on Sept. 22 against the New Jersey Devils at The Rock.
