Newark, N.J: Artemi Panarin has a point in 15 straight games to open this season, surpassing Rod Gilbert's 14-game club record from the 1972-1973 season.
With two goals tonight, Panarin exercised the demons of the last post-season and buried the Devils. He scored the game-opening goal 8:37 into the first frame on the power-play and the game-tying goal 11 minutes into the final period.
Following the victory, Panarin was in good spirits, "Six years I came in [to the league] so I know exactly where the net is and I shoot that side."
This is his 9th NHL season. No matter, the positive energy from No.10 is infectious and palpable.
When asked if it felt good to win after what happened last spring, he stated, "Yeah, but like I said before the game I have zero [qualms] about last year. The focus is on this season."
That mindset has helped him rack up 26 points in 15 games,
Jimmy Vesey is impressed by his teammate's efforts, "He's been pretty ridiculous. I was impressed with him last year, the first time I played with him. This year he's hit a new gear."
Seeing Panarin set a new club record, Vesey added, "For the franchise to be around this long and to break a record like that is pretty special. He's been a special player.
Panarin propels the Rangers to a 12-1-2 record, as Mr. Ranger takes a bow from up above.
