Undaunted after being tied in the third period by a Flyers comeback goal, the Rangers simply went to the net where good things happen, especially when a previously scoreless rookie, Matt Rempe, becomes an unlikely winning goal lamplighter.
The New York Rangers went to Philadelphia and showed why they should be favored to win The Stanley Cup.
They tied a team record, winning their tenth straight game, 2-1, yesterday at Wells Fargo Center.

They got championship goaltending from Igor Shesterkin who won his sixth straight start.
They held fast even when being outplayed by a suddenly strong Flyers team.
Undaunted after being tied in the third period by a Flyers comeback goal, they simply went to the net where good things happen, especially when a previously scoreless rookie becomes an unlikely winning goal lamplighter.
In this case a Barclay Goodrow shinny shot ricocheted off rookie Matt (The Giraffe) Rempe's shin crossed the red goal line and, after that, goalkeeper Iggy said "Nyet" to the Flyers.
Which is another way of saying that the Rangers could break their winning streak record at 6 pm. tonight in Columbus. The Maven predicts that Jonathan Quick will be in goal; as he should be. Shesterkin has earned a rest.
"Tying this record is something to be proud of," said defenseman Ryan Lindgren. "We're happy about it. But we've got to get ready for the next one, tonight."
Clearly the difference in the game was netminding. Shesty had the goods, making 39 saves while his opposite, Samuel Ersson, had 22 stops as simply was not as good.
If any segment could be marked a turning point it was the first period when the Flyers fired 18 shots at Shesterkin and Iggie responded with his best period of the season.
"Igor gave us a chance in the first period," said Peter Laviolette. "The Flyers had us but our goalie was on point."
The media posse egged Shesterkin about revealing the "secret" to his superior play.
"No secret," The Stopper said. "I'm touching the puck more."
Now isn't that a "touching" remark for a comrade who has allowed one goal in each of his last three starts. I think so and so do his teammates including Big Al Lafreniere who beat Ersson at 11:56 of the second period when the teams were skating four on four.
That goal burst the Flyers confidence balloon and gave Shesterkin the lead with which he could work. We know by now that when Iggie has a one-goal game, the Rangers are gonna win; it's as simple as that.
But The Maven is obliged to offer a word to the wise for the Rangers.
On paper, tonight's game in Columbus should be a breeze for the Blueshirts against a struggling Blue Jackets sextet. Or to paraphrase one time Norris Trophy-winner Adam Fox, "We can't take our foot off the gas."
If the lads listen to the insightful Foxy, that'll produce a winning record that could go on and on.
The Blueshirts ARE that good!
