The New York Rangers (30-16-3) host the Colorado Avalanche (32-14-3) to begin the second half of the season.

Former Blueshirts netminder Alexander Georgiev (27-11-2, 2.91 GAA, .899 SV%)  will get the start for the Avalanche at Madison Square Garden tonight.

The Blueshirts finished the month of January with a 5-7-2 record. The team earned a confidence victory against the Ottawa Senators on Jan.27 to conclude the month.

The puck is set to drop at Madison Square Garden at 7:00 p.m. Following tonight's game, the Rangers host the Tampa Bay Lightning (27-18-5) on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.

Morning Skate Updates: The Rangers skated today at the MSG training facility. Jonathan Quick (10-4-2, 2.43 GAA, .915 SV%) will start in the net tonight.

Igor Shesterkin represented the Rangers at the All-Star weekend. The coaching staff chose to start Quick to allow Shesterkin to get more work in ahead of Wednesday's contest.

"They have a really dynamic power play. [We need to] make sure that we're playing hard but staying out of the box. They’ll make you pay there,” Braden Schneider said.

"I think we're just going to make sure we're limiting their chances and staying in front of them. [We need to] own the front of our net and get to the front of theirs and keep numbers in front of them off the rush. They don't leave much room to make something happen."

"They're dangerous and a top team in the league for a reason," said Rangers head Coach Peter Laviolette. "They bring speed and skill. They are good in a lot of different areas and so we're gonna need to be good with discipline"
