Rangers Ducks Post-Game

New York Rangers third-line winger Will Cuylle scored a vital game-tying goal against the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday night to help the Blueshirts to a 5-2 victory.

He also drew a tripping penalty that gave way to Artemi Panarins' go-ahead power-play goal.

The 20-year-old forward has been the most consistent third-line player this season for the club.

Cuylle has skated alongside Kaapo Kakko and Nick Bonino, and the last couple of games on a line with Blake Wheeler and Jonny Brodzinski

No matter the combination, he's played with the same identity since training camp.

The brawny forward is proving to be the quintessential checking line skater. He hunts pucks and uses his frame to his advantage. works for everything, and has a solid finishing touch.

He leads all rookies with 122 hits this season. That is 37 more checks than the runner-up in the stat category.

"I thought we generated a lot today, a lot of chances, just moving good and connecting well," Cuylle told reporters following the game.

"The past couple of games we haven't been getting good screens and F1 to the net so that was a being focus and I tried to implement that as much as I could throughout the game."

"[The] Cuylle, Wheeler, and Brodizinski line were in the o-zone getting pucks to the net, " Adam Fox told reporters. "They were really working  and rewarded for it, and we kept building off that."

"He was excellent all night, moving his feet. He's physical. He's around the net," Laviolette told reporters. "We haven't had enough of that presence around the net...that line in general was probably our most effective line."

The Rangers will go far with their top players performing their best. They can win the Stanley Cup if depth players like Cuylle perform like he did in Anaheim.
