Bonino is heading on waivers.
The New York Rangers will be placing forward Nick Bonino on waivers Thursday at 2 PM, per team PR.
The 35-year-old signed a one-year deal worth $800,000 with New York this summer but has struggled so far through 45 games with just one goal and four assists.
On Jan. 20, Bonino served as a healthy scratch in the Rangers' 2-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings. Here's what head coach Peter Laviolette had to say:

Following practice, Laviolette spoke on the decision:
“Bonino had a meeting with Chris Drury this morning, and a decision was made," Laviolette said. "He’s a great person and a great teammate.
“I’ve worked with Bonino for quite a few years going back to Nashville. I can’t speak enough about him as a good person.”
The former sixth-round pick by the San Jose Sharks has played in 868 NHL games with seven teams over a 15-year career, making the postseason 10 times.
Bonino won back-to-back Stanley Cups with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2016 and 2017.
