The right-wing position has been a massive crutch for the Rangers over the years. Adding a guy like Blake Wheeler gives them some more size and strength. He has officially signed a one-year deal.

Blake Wheeler might not be the target that most people would want, but adding the 6'5 and 220-pound winger makes the Rangers a little bit bigger and stronger up front.

In my mind, Wheeler is the perfect guy to throw on the 3rd line and he can also be a strong addition to the 2nd power-play unit. Having a guy that has essentially been a solidified 20-goal scorer throughout his NHL career would be a very strong addition to this team's depth.

Wheeler is also a guy you want for a playoff run. He hasn't been able to get over the hump with his previous teams, but Wheeler has produced in most of the postseasons that he's played in.

Since 2017-2018, he has played in a total of 40 playoff games, and in that span, he tallied 8 goals with 30 assists for 38 points.

Kaapo Kakko needs to get some more top-six minutes, there's no doubt about that and this should be one of the team's top priorities.

Does Wheeler move the needle? Maybe not, but he will be a solid role player for the New York Rangers.
