New York fell to Los Angeles 2-1, the teams' second loss in a row on this road trip.

The New York Rangers lost to the L.A Kings 2-1 on Saturday night. Jonathan Quick would make 24 saves in his first game back in L.A. It was the Kings second win in their last 12 games.

    Here’s how it happened:

The Rangers started the fourth line to match up against the Kings' first line. They would not record a shot on goal for the first four minutes of the first period.

Quick began the game strong with back-to-back saves, and shortly after he received a video tribute and a two-minute standing ovation.

At the 10:07 mark, Zac Jones held Quinton Byfield, and the Rangers penalty kill stood tall allowing one shot on goal to the Kings power play.

Kevin Fiala drew first blood with 30 seconds left in the period, scoring short side on Quick to take a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

The Rangers would finish the period with just two shots on goal.

Jacob Trouba, who was noticeable all night, delivered a heavy check on Fiala at the 16:11 mark of the second frame.

The Kings had a three-on-one opportunity but hit the post on the short side. An interference on Alexis Lafreniere would send Matt Roy to the penalty box, Jacob Trouba had two quality chances but the Rangers power play ultimately failed to convert.

Chris Kreider scored his twenty-first goal of the season to tie the game at 1-1, Adam Fox finding No.20 on a cross-ice feed.

Quinton Byfield would take the lead with 1:47 left in the period. A loose puck on a rebound was buried by the 2020 second-overall draft pick to provide the Kings with the go-ahead goal.

The Ranger's best opportunity to tie the game was on a power play and empty net at the end of the third period, but the struggling Rangers special teams unit could not deliver for the third and final time on the evening.

New York would fall to Los Angeles 2-1, the teams' second loss in a row on this road trip.
