The New York Rangers earned their first multi-goal comeback in a 4-3 character victory against the Nashville Predators.
On October 19, the Blueshirts lost 4-0 at home against the same hardworking club. It looked like the Predators had their number again early in this contest.
The Rangers trailed 2-0, surrendering early goals to Ryan O'Reilly and Roman Josi.
O'Reilly's goal was assisted by a lucky bounce of off of an official in the neutral zone. It was his fifth career goal against Igor Shesterkin in five games against the netminder. Josi put on the moves to dice up Adam Fox for his fifth career goal against New York.
After a bland first period, Peter Laviolette and the coaching staff changed the forward lineup. It was an effective move, as Jacob Trouba scored 31 seconds into the second frame.
The Rangers surrendered a short-handed goal to Colton Sissons and trailed again 3-1. Chris Kreider and Vincent Trocheck quickly answered to knot the game up.
Kreider scored his team-leading fourteenth goal of the season and is now tied for fourth most in the NHL. He is one goal away from tying Adam Graves for third place in Ranger history (280).
Trocheck had another stellar performance, with 1 goal and 2 assists all in the second period. It was his third three-point game this season. His faceoff dominance continued, winning 19/26 (73%) of his draws.
Ryan Lindgren scored the game-winning goal 5:10 into the third period off a Nashville defender. It was his first goal of the season.
Jonny Brodzinski had an assist on the play, his second of the night. Adam Fox also had a helper on the goal, one of 3 assists in his second game back from the LTIR.
The Rangers paid whatever price they had to pay to win and climb to a 17-4-1 record. They are the first team to have 10 road wins this season and are 8-0-1 in one-goal games. They take on the San Jose Sharks at Madison Square Garden tomorrow at 6:30 P.M (ET).
